What is it about your studio space that inspires you?
My studio space is a sanctuary of creativity, filled with soft pastel tones and vintage decor that inspire a sense of nostalgia and elegance. The abundance of natural light filtering through large windows uplifts my spirits, and the quiet ambiance allows me to immerse myself in my artistic world fully. Surrounded by my own creations and works in progress, I feel a deep connection to my artistic journey, which serves as a constant reminder of the beauty of creation and exploration.
What sounds, scents and sights do you encounter while in your studio?
Within my studio, the ambiance is enriched by the soothing melodies of Japanese city pop music, which infuse sophistication and timelessness into my creative process. The invigorating surroundings, draped in colorful decor and art deco illustrations, foster an inspiring and dynamic atmosphere. The sweet fragrance of neroli and violets lingers in the air, harmonizing with the presence of my cat, igniting a constant flow of creative ideas and an exchange of artistic energy.
What is your favourite material to work with? How has your use of it evolved throughout your practice?
Acrylic colors are my favorite materials to work with, as they allow me to experiment with textures, layering, and vibrant hues. Over time, my use of acrylics has evolved from traditional techniques to incorporating metallic accents and pastel shades, infusing my artwork with a sense of modern magic and enchantment.
What themes do you pursue?
My artistic pursuits revolve around capturing the spirit of exploration, evoking nostalgic charm, and celebrating the intertwining of traditional and digital elements. Themes of wanderlust, human connections, and the significance of beauty and joy in our existence are prevalent in my art, inviting viewers to delve into a world of wonder and introspection.
What advice has had the biggest impact on your career?
The advice that had the most significant impact on my career was to stay true to my artistic vision and embrace the uniqueness of my creative voice. Emphasizing the importance of artistic authenticity has allowed me to create with a genuine passion, fostering a strong connection between my art and the audience.
If you could install your art absolutely anywhere, where would that be?
Given the opportunity, I would relish the chance to exhibit my art in a historic art deco building, such as a grand ballroom or a charming cafe. The interplay of my contemporary vision, postmodernism, and nods to the 1980s against the elegant art deco backdrop would offer visitors a captivating and harmonious experience.
If you could only have one piece of art in your life, what would it be?
If I could choose only one piece of art, I would treasure a timeless masterpiece that embodies the essence of beauty, joy, and human connection. A painting that captures the complexity of emotions and resonates deeply with the soul would be a constant source of inspiration and contemplation. It has to be a painting by Tamara de Lempicka.
If you weren´t an artist, what would you be doing?
If I weren't an artist, I might have pursued a career in interior design or curation. Creating visually appealing and harmonious spaces that evoke emotions and memories is something that has always intrigued me.
What are your favourite places besides your studio?
Beyond my studio, I find inspiration in vintage art exhibitions, contemporary art galleries, and art deco cafes. Nature, particularly serene forests and the calming presence of the ocean, also offers me a sense of tranquility and creativity.
