BWA Kielce: Renata Jaworska 2018

Interview with Renata JAWORSKA

Monika Cybulska, BWA Kielce: What maps and territories do you exhibit?

Renata Jaworska (polish artist): I was inspired by the bell’s sound, the bell founded by my great-great-grandpa Jan Skrzypczak in 1930 for the Garrison Church in Radom. I studied the area covered by the sound, its volume, and put the data on the map. Thus I got a territory enriched with new structures: audio, visual, family, sentimental, religious. The series of pictures titled “Maps and territories” has been created to solve the problem of belongingness. The bell tolling makes us ponder the family history, local tradition, power of ancestral faith, and generates some questions concerning the reactions of atheists, agnostics and adherent of other religions – does it disturb them?

A part of the conversation with the artist: "Renata Jaworska On art, life, myself…"

All in the catalogue under the title – „Mapy i terytoria”
can be purchased at the exhibition in BWA Kielce, Kapitulna 2

Exhibition: MAPS AND TERRITORIES from 03. August till 31. August 2018
