Please join us to view and celebrate the work of artists boredomresearch, selected by the University for the inaugural UWS Paisley Digital Art commission to create a unique Paisley pattern for everyone in the town (and, ultimately, around the world)!
With input from local school pupils, UWS students and members of local community groups, Vicky and Paul have reinvented the iconic Paisley pattern for the digital age; symbolising how Paisley itself is evolving as it competes to become UK City of Culture in 2021.
Our preview event event takes place in Paisley Museum from 6-8pm. Canapes and refreshments will be available – please email uwsevents@uws.ac.uk to confirm your attendance.
We look forward to seeing you there.
The UWS Paisley Digital Art Commission was originated by Professor Nick Higgins, Director of the UWS Creative Media Academy, in consultation with Mark Daniels of New Media Scotland and supported through funds from UWS and Renfrewshire Council.
“With over 7.4 billion humans alive on earth how do we value the individual, the unique, the last representative of a kind? As part of the struggle to save some of the most incredible life forms on earth, boredomresearch reflect on the value of diversity, creating a unique digital paisley pearl for every human alive on earth. A digital loom in the Museum will start creating over 76,000 unique forms for the people of Paisley in tribute to the freshwater pearl mussel that thrived in the 18th century in the White Cart river in Paisley.”
