In 1993, a group of artists moved into the former piano factory on the Wall Strip between Alt-Treptow and Neukölln in Berlin. Since then, the city has changed, the neighborhood has changed, the composition of the house has changed and we have changed. The Atelierhaus Mengerzeile, has, however, survived as a place of creativity - despite all the challenges. And we would like to celebrate that!
Currently, 38 artists from various fields such as painting, sculpture, conceptual art, film, photography, and design are working in the Mengerzeile studios. My own studio has been there since 2005.
You are cordially invited to join us to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the studio house on September 23rd. There will be an "Open Studios" day allowing you to see inside the studios of the artists and designers of the house together with a day of events all followed by a celebration party with music, dancing, and performance art.
