MIMMO CATANIA – INTERIOR SHOT

dispari&dispari freut sich, die Einzelausstellung von Mimmo Catania mit dem Titel „Interior Shot” bekannt zu geben. Präsentiert wird eine Auswahl von Gemälden der letzten Jahre, deren Thema Innenräume sind. Der Künstler hat dem Ort unseres Werdens, in denen sich unsere ganze Existenz abspielt, im Laufe seiner verschiedenen Werkreihen immer einen wichtigen Platz gegeben: dem Inneren. Der Künstler schält bestimmte Aspekte heraus, die Teil unserer kollektiven Erinnerungen sind, an denen wir alle teilhaben, in denen wir uns wiedererkennen. Sie müssen gar nicht ausgesprochen werden, sie schwingen einfach mit, selbst in ihrer Abwesenheit. Catania gibt damit einer gewissen Zurückhaltung Raum, schnörkellos, die uns magisch in Bann zieht, und knüpft damit an die Sprache des Meta-Realismus an, als die er seine Kunst versteht: Es ist eine Sprache, die nicht die Wirklichkeit abbildet, sondern das, was Wirklichkeit mit uns macht.

dispari&dispari is pleased to announce the solo exhibition of Mimmo Catania entitled “Interior Shot”. The exhibition presents a selection of paintings from recent years that focus on interiors. In the course of his various series of works, the artist has always given an important role to the ambience of our becoming in which our entire existence takes place: the interior. The artist highlights certain aspects of the interior that are part of our collective memories, in which we all participate, in which we recognize ourselves. They don’t have to be pronounced, they simply resonate, even in their absence. Catania thus gives room to a certain sensitiveness, without frills, which magically fascinates us, and in so doing ties in with the language of meta-realism as which he understands his art: it is a language that does not depict reality, but what reality does to us.
