The Feuerle Collection is delighted to announce a Cycle of Four Astrological Lectures and Exhibitions with Paintings by Alexander Graf von Schlieffen, curated by Désiré Feuerle, from March 13 to November 9, 2025.
With this project, The Feuerle Collection delves for the first time into the field of astrology—a discipline central to von Schlieffen’s work and a recurring reference in Western art history since the Italian Renaissance, which continues to resonate in contemporary culture.
Alexander Graf von Schlieffen began his career as a painter in the late 1980s, drawing inspiration from the Italian Renaissance and American color field painting. Over the years, his practice has evolved into a profound exploration of symbolism, mysticism, and interconnectedness. Alongside his painting, von Schlieffen has been deeply engaged with astrology since 1991, using this discipline to investigate the cyclical patterns of life and its philosophical dimensions. This dual focus has enriched both his artistic and astrological work.
Désiré Feuerle has been deeply familiar with and started collecting von Schlieffen’s work since an early stage. He will apply his refined curatorial approach to highlight von Schlieffen’s works, employing light and space to sensually describe the paintings and invite the viewers to enter a new world. The exhibitions will trace the evolution of von Schlieffen’s painting practice, presenting both early and recent works.
The astrological lectures, delivered by the artist among his paintings, will explore essential aspects of astrology as a discipline. Themes include the transition from the Earth to the Air epoch, the philosophical interpretation of astrological cycles, and the symbolic role of mushrooms as interconnected organisms, elements that also inspire his painting practice.
The planned events will unfold as follows:
• The first exhibition will open on March 13, 2025, with a first Astrological Lecture from 6 to 7 pm, followed by the public opening from 7 to 9 pm. The exhibition will run from March 14 to April 27, 2025.
• The second exhibition will open on April 30, 2025, with a lecture at 6 pm, followed by the public opening from 7 to 9 pm. This exhibition will remain on view from May 1 to June 8, 2025.
