2.5 Street - Rise & Fall of a Community Art Space

Alfred Banze presents a multi-media installation, which was conceived and produced during his artist residency at Sammaki in Battambang / Cambodia (February 2016). In the framework of his participatory art project, the Berlin artist has created large drawings and video clips, in direct cooperation with young local colleagues and art students. The works follow personal stories from the Sammaki Community Art Space (2011 - 2016), which will close its doors in the coming months. The exhibition is meant as a personal but also collective poetic reflection on global phenomena such as social and cultural transformations, exoticism in the 21st century and the everyday failure of artistic escapism. Realized in cooperation with Sammaki Community Artspace, Bayman Team, Meta House Phnom Penh, Camping Akademie e.V. - Supported by the Berlin Senate Cultural Affairs Department and the German Embassy in Cambodia.
