Freedom means being able to do anything as you wish, but the original meaning of the word goes deeper. In Japanese, “自由” is written with the characters “自,” meaning oneself, and “由,” meaning to originate from — together implying “to take oneself as the source or basis.” Because we act by our own decisions, whatever results follow must also be grounded in ourselves. In other words, we take responsibility for them. The future that lies ahead of you will be shaped by the choices you make from this moment onward — it is you who will open that path.
