Andreas Schulze’s Vacanze 365 comprises a series of paintings of abstracted holidaymakers. His figures are painted in acrylics with the clean, studied naïveté of Henri Rousseau; torsos and thighs distorted to fill the rectangle of the canvas. The uncanny smoothness of each painting is interrupted by a plume of dirty, airbrushed smoke, pouring from a hole on the holidaymaker’s beltline. Schulze has been exhibited all over the globe, with solo shows in several museums, e.g. Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Deichtorhallen Hamburg and Kunst Museum Luzern.
