My paintings are the result of a constant struggle between a lonely character’s expression and the physicality of the paint itself. Colour, material and gesture are the fundamental elements of my work.
While I don’t find the act of feigning reality, such as using perspective or chiaroscuro, particularly interesting, I am fascinated by the reality of the painting itself as two-dimensional object.

I use impasto primarily to make my presence tangible.
I have always been drawn to human faces, finding a prominent nose more captivating than a vase of flowers.
