As a visual artist Ibrahim Quraishi examines the dynamics of migration, dispossession and cohabitation within the socio-political spheres of communities. Quraishi has worked with numerous international artists and intellectuals, such as Alicja Kwade, Pamela Z, Jean Stein, Lerato Shadi, Paul D. Miller aka DJ Spooky, Norscq, Imani Uzuri, Naeem Mohaiemen, Susan Sontag, Philippe Hersant, Vijay Iyer, Mike Ladd, Fawzia Afzal-Khan, Smadar Yaaron, Komar & Melamid, Masayasu Nakanishi, Hiam Abbass, Peter Sellars, Valeri Gergiev, Shahzia Sikander, Gabriel Smeets, Aziz Bekkaoui, Sabine Jainski, Tanya Reinhardt, Sara Raza, Agnes de Ruijter, Koji Hamai, Moniek Toebosch, André Torres Lepecki, Eleonora Fabião, Mestre Gabriel Arrioja and Chris Keulemans among others.

Lost Codes

Lost Codes is a project concerning the ephemeral notions of migration. The work focuses on the mental transportation of things that had to be left behind.
Islamic Violins (ed II 2012-2013)
'Islamic Violins' Sculptural Installation of 30 hand-sculpturally treated violins
Islamic Violins is a sculptural installation, where on a given hour a violin explodes.
Homage to the Fluxus movement, which developed an anti-establishment, anti-commercial approach to art in the 1960s, by staging intuitive ‘aktion’ works, performances, low-budget do-it-yourself art editions and other events, intending to free art from the boundaries of the institutions and the market.

A channel drone video made above through various countries in the Middle East and the Arabian Peninsula giving a bird's eye view of images that are deliberately transformed to offer a “playfully” distinctive perspective on all too familiar landscapes that are currently in the midst of perpetual war and turmoil.
Radius 1 was shot to transform ‘reality' into a series of fictional surreal orders from their own literal and over wrought heaviness. Above the ground, sailing through the factual, fictional necessity of our current military conflicts and rebellions that are raging from places as far as Yemen, Bahrain, Syria and Iraq. These images only discern a sense of tranquility through the prism of a serene silence and an aerial parody, where the notion of life is presented in terms of pure abstraction and calmness. In these supposedly cordoned off terrains of our ‘un-named’ anonymous secret military villages, bases and compounds comes across as vast contrasts to the crusting grueling Arabian Desert, to be witnessed by an occasional car chase, like a clichéd Hollywood thriller only to reveal once again the incrustation of more terror, intrigue and warfare as an un-ending story.
