From the very start of his artistic itinerary, Erez Israeli's work is a critical observation of local culture and heritage, meaning the interwoven connection between space, collective memory and representation. His work has been addressing the tension between the symbolisation and representation of traumatic events in our history and uses these collectively fixed structures in that same history to ultimately take them apart in terms of their meaning and signification, thus enabling their usage in various types of media.

lsraeli is constantly oscillating between photography, sculpture, painting, installation, video and body-based arts. In the process, he often uses his own body as a surface for projection and his interpretation of history.

At the same time, he plays with the fact that art enables the works to be transformed from their often unsettling nature into mere aesthetic pleasure.
