At the beginning there were only shapes, colors and the arrangement of both, through patterns. After that there was the room and with it the question of the relationship of room and painting and the importance of it. The painting as an object, and the possiblities of it's presentation in the room.
A side specific painting, that is perceived as an elemental part of the room, in which it is presented, as windows, doors or columns...

Other questions: How does image perception work? Is it influenced by the sorrounding space? Can a presentation be a part of the work itself and can it alter the work fundamentally?
What is the difference between a picture and a design object as carpets or tappesseries are? Where is the difference between a carpet on the wall and a painting that shows a carpet on the wall?
